COURSE UPGRADE

All final year students including scholars, loan receiptients, private and self-funding students interested in furthering their studies, are welcome to apply for Brunei Government scholarship. New scholarships announcements are usually made between between the months of January and March. The details of the offer is available on the Ministry of Education's website at, http://moe.gov.bn/resources/downloads. for scholarship offers, program listings and requirements as well as forms.










 
Final year students wanting to take up Master or Doctorate courses are advised to plan ahead and talk to their lecture about their future academic plans. Intending students can submit their Online Application for Program Upgrade - Online APU to the EAUC. EAUC usually sets a deadline that is earlier than the one stated in the Scholarship Announcement. The early deadline is to give EAUC time to prepare an academic report on the applicant.

SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY
Interested students are advised to read the Scholarship Announcements carefully in order to understand the requirements set by the Brunei Government. Applicants seeking to dao a First Degree program are required to meet the following requirements:

  • A Brunei citizenship,
  • Mnimum language proficiency in Bahasa Melayu and English Language,
  • Age lcriteria,
  • Minimum academic qualifications, either
     - UCAS Tariff points, or
     - International Baccalaureate Diploma Gred Point,
     - /Diploma Level 5, or
     - Advanced Diploma, or
     - Higher National Diploma.
  • Courses are inline with national needs,
  • Holds an offer from a recognized university or field of study

Additionally, final year students intending to apply for a Master or Doctorate scholarship are also required to have hold either, a Second Upper Honours degree, or a non-honours degree, a greade of Distinction or A. Scholars intending on upgrading to a Doctoral program are also required to submit a research proposal and future planning in the format required.

Final year students studying in Australia and New Zealand are advised to submit their application to EAUC. Please check EAUC website for the closing date as this will be different from the one set by MOE.

Applicants are required to write to EAUC and submit the Online Application for Course Upgrade - Online ACU. Applicants are Students are also required to provide the documents (pdf) listed below and to email these to students@brunei.org.au.

  • Proposal Paper (for doctoral program only),
  • Academic Transcript,
  • Academic Statement,
  • University Letter of Commendation,
  • University Offer/Acceptance Letter,
  • Course course content/ summary/ outline,
  • University Grading System,
  • GCE ‘O’ Level/ A-Level/ IB/ IELTS, and
  • any other certificates (if applicable)

Bonded Scholars
For final year students who are bonded as educators, you are required by MOE to continue your studies in UBD at the master level. Students are advised to visit UBD’s graduate admission page at www.ubd.edu.bn/admission/graduate

MORA Scholars
MORA scholars may apply through EAUC. Interested applicants may submit the application form prepared by the Scholarship Division before the given deadline.
 
SBPP Students
SBPP receptients intending on upgrading their studies to a honours degree are advised to write to the Director of Studies at least two (2) months before the start of their final year semester’s exam.  To facilitate the process, the following additional documents are also required.
 
  • Support letter from current university,
  • University offer letter – please submit as soon as it is available,
  • Details of proposed program applied for,
  • final year results – should be verified by current university and submitted to EAUC once available.
 
For masters and doctorate applications, students are advised to apply directly to MOE using the forms provided by the Scholarship Division.
 
Private and Self-Funding Students
Private and Self-Funding students may apply directly to the MOE once the offer is open in December/January.
